Color of Prosperity

Yellow is supposed to be the color of prosperity.

If that's true, our valley is in good shape!

These delightful daffolils are blooming in our backyard right now.

On our daily walk today the kids and I saw this sight repeated in the yards of neighbors, parks, and other places. It's a jovial time of year!

Daffodils: Smiles in the shape of skirted bells!

I love daffodils! They remind me of England-- they're a welcome sight each spring. It's become almost a cliche, but I understand why Wordsworth wrote about how his heart "dances with the daffodils."

We still have snow on the ground so nothing's growing yet. I DO have a vase of daffodils though. Our Cancer Society sells them every year.
It's nice having a touch of spring, even if it's only in the house.

I never knew yellow was the color of prosperity. I used to carry a black umbrella until a depressive type friend in college told me that she always carried a bright yellow umbrella because it is impossible to feel really sad when you're under a yellow umbrella.
Happiness is prosperity too, I guess.

Ann, lovely sentiment, "dances with the daffodils" Thanks for adding that. Did you live in England, or did you visit? Have you seen my postings of Joe's visit there? He's dying to go back.

tshsmom, I bought some daffies for our New Year's Eve celebration (or was it Super Bowl Sunday??), and we enjoyed having that little bit of sunshine in our home while the weather outside was frightful. Enjoy your vaseful..... until they push up from the now frozen ground. I hope you'll let us know when Spring makes herself known in your neck of the woods.

d. chedwick bryant: I think it's in China that yellow is considered the color of prosperity. I just found this out a month or so ago. A yellow umbrella does seem cheerier than a black one. Did you switch?

Happiness certainly makes one feel prosperous - what IS prosperity anyway, certainly not measured only in dollar signs. Yeah, happiness sounds like a good measure to me. Happiness, peace, contentment, wisdom, understanding.

And a Bob Dylan concert now and then!

Hi Cherie, thanks for stopping by my blog. I love to see these flowers blooming. Too cold here today, kind of depressing; we got up to a whole 17 degrees F. This cheered me up some. Nice site too!

Beautiful... the vibrant spalshes of color so early in the year -- I definitely miss that! Maybe I'll go paint some snow...

Ooooo, I dunno, Pam. Yellow snow?

I have lovely daffies blooming in the garden so no purchase was necessary...however, I strayed into a florist shop yesterday and couldn't walk out the door without an astoundingly beautiful bouquet of fragrant lilies.

At home again, I picked out the perfect glass vase, cut the stems a little shorter and added water. Placing the beauties in the vase, I carried them to the living room coffee table, which sits very near Dick's favorite chair.

The fragrance was to him, overpowering. I now have my treasure out of sight (and smell) but I tip toe over to visit them often.

Lizza, my grandma used to say, "Ain't men funny."

I'm glad you are tip toeing over to visit the pretty lilies! They'll gladden your heart, for sure.
