You

"Love your neighbor as yourself is part of the great commandment. The other way to say it is, Love yourself as your neighbor. Love yourself not in some egocentric, self-serving sense but love yourself the way you would love your friend in the sense of taking care of yourself, nourishing yourself, trying to understand, comfort, strengthen yourself...."Mind your own business" means butt out of other people's lives because in the long run they must live their lives for themselves, but it also means pay mind to your own life, your own health and wholeness, both for your own sake and ultimately for the sake of those you love, too. Take care of yourself so you can take care of them. A bleeding heart is of no help to anybody if it bleeds to death." ~~ Frederick Buechner

I need to print that quote and hang it on my fridge!
The first part is advice that needs to be slammed home to me on a daily basis. That's a hard one for Moms.

The second one I've learned the hard way. Now I only help when asked, except for my family.

Hey, Tony, thanks for stopping by! Good point that the word 'selfish' is much misused. I heartily agree. And it's too our detriment, too, for we are a race of exhausted, wheels-spinning people anymore.

WC - I love that photo because I can almost hear the surf, smell the salt, and feel the coolness and push and pull of the water. I miss the ocean, too. Need to break away from here - and go to there!

Thsh, you and me, friend, you and me. Easy to see the wisdom there, hard to do. But, thankfully, not impossible.

I think I need to print it too. It's a good one Cherie, thanks for finding and posting it. Hope everyone is feeling better!

Caroline has got a full-fledged cold now and, sadly, Tom is coming down with it, too. But does he slow down any? Noooo......

Thanks, Sandy, for your well wishes!

Great words. Glad you shared them.

Yes, Pam, the sun really does revolve around you. Nice to finally have proof, huh! =D

Caroline is getting better, but Tom is much much worse. :(

Joe came for a visit this morning and said, "Man! This place is a hospital!"

I'm about to make chicken soup for Tom and Caroline now - well, for all of us. Got some good bread at Market of Choice to go with it.

Thanks for the well wishes, Pam!
