Yesterday morning it rained. Gently. For the first time in weeks.Silently, in awe, as if for the first time, we watched a gray sky shower cool water all over our green and brown lawns, fruitful tomato plants, faithful flowers, dusty trees and shrubs, cars, houses, and on the months-long hot and tarry street outside.
I noticed Caroline sitting in the rocking chair, in her jammies, with a look of contented bliss spreading across her sweet face.
"You look happy, Caroline," I softly mentioned.
Her close-lipped smiled widened. Her eyes shut lightly as she experienced deep awareness. She exhaled through her nose as if in relief and whispered, "I.....actually.......feel.....cold."
A fresh new season hints of its imminent arrival.
And we are glad.

Rain is a beautiful thing, as is "feeling cold" in August!
Very nice. I love rain, actually - not that I'd want a steady string of bleak days mind you, but I do think it's cleansing and relieving. Alas, no rain in sight here.

The sky is falling here too, Cherie. It has been a very hot and dry summer and though we have had a few thunderstorms in recent times, today it is cool and has been raining ALL day. And like Caroline, people in our house commented on actually feeling cold! Fall will be so welcome this year!
The fact that we have changing seasons is a wonderful thing. Otherwise we'd all be so depressed! ;)
We need the changes, don't we, and we welcome them.
We had pounding rains last night which are supposed to subside around noon, and we'll be back to summer weather by Tuesday - mid 80's, blue and dry. It's all good! (We'll see how Caroline takes it all in..... ; )

I wish I could send you some, Des! I think you are sending us some more sunny California weather. We are back to the mid 80's but it feels really good........and drying out. I don't much like the MUD.

It's cooling off here too. Z said the exact same thing a couple of days ago. He said it was a treat to close the windows for a change. ;)
