Fences and Granola

When studying macrobiotics years ago I read that it's important to sweat. Keeping the air conditioning off is important and letting my glands work essential.

Keeping that in mind I stirred up a batch of granola during the hottest part of the day.

Currently, in an increasingly hot kitchen, I am opening a 250 degree oven to stir grains and nuts every fifteen minutes for one and one half hours.

And sweating...just a little.

Tom is building a fence and sweating...just a lot.

Water is plentiful. Our bodies seem to like the purging of toxins.

So, with my face in the oven I stir. In between bouts I water gardens.

And Tom builds. In between bouts he sips tea.

I feel happy in this.

It is natural.

It is good.

(But I will still cool off the house unnaturally later because too much of good thing, well, you know.)

LOL! We've been able to have the air off for the last few days since the temps have been only in the 80s. But it broke 90 today and will be the same for the next couple of days. So I decided that my books needed to be kept in more even temperatures.:-)

Patti: Not your kids, or your husband, not YOU, but your books need to be kept cool. Oh my, you are a worse bibliophile than I. And thanks for the kind words about the fence! I shall post the 'After' photos later.

Shyra: We shall have fun keeping in touch in this new way, you and me!

Sweating is good... and the environment is that bit better off because the aircon wasn't on :-).

We're in the heating phase, but we only run our heatpump (reverse cycle aircon) at 17C (62.6F) and just put warm jumpers on. Suits us fine but a few friends come and shiver cause they run their's at 26C (78.8F)... they sit at our place with coats on. Ho hum.

I've always been a firm believer in the health benefits of sweating! In fact, I don't even wear deodrant on weekends. I just let it pour and cleanse my system.
I prefer doing most of my sweating outdoors though. ;)

We've been lucky this summer. We only had 2-90F days, and those were back in June. I haven't had the AC on since then. This week the highs are supposed to be in the mid 60F range...I LOVE it!

Cecily: We keep our house cooler than most in winter, too, and friends come in thick sweaters - smart people!

Tshs: Well, yes, there's sweating and then there's stinking. The prior is fine, the later, not so much. ;)

Mid- 60's, wow, that's what we are cooling down to at night. It could be worse so I'm not complaining. As long as I can sleep, I'm okay. (That means not cranky! ;)
