Recollection

"Man does not become another man, he becomes himself; conscience recollects itself. . . The richest personality is nothing as long as it is not chosen; and on the other hand the poorest personality is everything when once it has chosen itself; for greatness is not to be this or that, but to be oneself." ~~ Soren Kierkegaard

I think this quote is one of the best things we can teach our children!

When SME was a teen, she went through a period when she tried to change herself to win a certain guy. I told her that the worst thing that could happen to her was winning this guy and someday marrying him. She would then have to spend her life pretending she was someone she wasn't.

Of course, my daughter didn't believe me. She eventually realized that the guy wasn't worth changing herself for. SME admitted that I'd been right and said:"I'll NEVER do that again! A guy isn't worth having if he doesn't like the REAL me."
