Lest We Forget

Memorial Day is coming up. Here's a short history of how the observance came to be. I don't care what day it falls on, but my family and I do regularly decorate graves and have a celebration of appreciation for lives remembered. However you observe the occasion, may it be meaningful and safe!

I have been away, Dear Friend... am so sorry for the pain of Struggle and Funk. I know you are ultimately ok, but I am still sad to know when you are hurting.
Love you!

Love you, too, Pam! Love you, too. Been thinking about you and all your 'endings' and 'beginnings.' Hope you are holding up okay. :-)

Cherie, Thank you for the history of Memorial Day, Gma Shinn allways called it Decoration Day.

Cherie, thank you for the reminder. Even those of us with a 30-year association with the military can so easily push this time of remembrance and gratitude to the back of our minds.

You're welcome, Annie. So glad your kids will hear the history. I read it to my girls, too. Hope your Memorial Day is special as well!

Ashley, thanks!

Tom, you betcha. We shall think of Grandma Shinn.....and fried chicken. ;-)

Ann - 30 year association. Wow! Who, husband or you or both? What branch? Still? And you are most welcome. Hope your Memorial Day is meaningful.

Cherie, my husband retired a few years ago from a 30-year career as an AF officer. Now he's an academic! Though we were ready to leave that life, we miss many things about it-- and many people.
